TwitBird – A Unique iPhone Twitter Client

The main timeline.

TwitBird by NibiruTech LTD. comes in 3 versions, a free one, a pro version [$2.99], and a premium version [$1.99].  As you can see from the screenshots it is a very unique Twitter client. It also comes with three themes, Dark, iChat Bubbles, and Movie. Personally, I like the Dark theme. The iChat Bubbles and Movie themes don’t look way too don’t different. TwitBird comes with a pull to refresh button, which is pretty much standard in most twitter clients these days [following after Twitter for iPhone]. Another feature in this app, is a display filter. This features allows you to display all tweets, or first unread. You can also find the public timeline which is useful [Well, I'd say if you're bored]. For a free app, another nice feature includes adding more than 1 twitter account. In-app settings are helpful also since you don’t have to exit the app. With an auto refresh option, you don’t need to worry clicking any buttons to refresh, although no choices are shown as to what interval it would refresh at. Promising features is really what this app has, from ReadItLater to Instapaper. Picture options are very important too.  You have options to post your pictures to TwitPic, yFrog, MobyPicture, and pic.im. I was a little bit dissapointed that this app didn’t include img.ly support…but at least it has TwitPic. The only URL shortners are bit.ly and tr.im. You do have an option to geotag your tweets too. This app is currently at version 2.2.1. Hopefully many new features will be unveiled soon. When loading pictures, this app is at super speed. The pictures even load in the info of the tweet (extremely impressive!). When you go to a compose a tweet, a drop down menu like Twitter for iPhone is very impressive. This app is free, so if you use twitter, this is definitely worth a try.

iPhone OS 4.0 – What’s in it?

April 10, 2010 Leave a comment

The new iPhone OS 4.0 what’s it in and how does it work, keep reading to see. Above are some images. Credit to James Martin from CNET, Gizmodo, and gdgt, and Engadget for these images. On Thursday, April 8, Apple held a keynote in California talking about this new OS. First off, yes we are getting multitasking, and it does look very nice. When you’re in an app you’ll just double click the home button and you’ll see apps that are open etc, I recommend watching the fairly short keynote to understand it better. We’re also getting 5x digital zoom on the current 3GS and next iPhone. This software will be available in the summer, probably a few weeks in advance before the the next generation iPhone is released. You can also set a background behind your apps on your homescreen. You won’t need 5+ homescreens, since everything will be sorted into folders w/ categories (games, social networking), you can though edit your homescreen and put your favorite apps on it. Apple has made changes to the iPhone dock on the homescreen, it looks way better. Other features include bluetooth keyboards, editing iCal events synced with your iPhone, creating and naming playlists, In-App SMS, etc. Hope you understood 4.0 and enjoy it. P.S. – If you’re an iPhone Dev you can get 4.0 beta 1 which has already been released, it is buggy, but it’s nice.

Is A Verizon iPhone Possible?

The iPhone 4G coming out in June….we all know that Apple is releasing a new iPhone like they do every year, that’s very obvious, the only question is…will it be on Verizon too? Many Verizon users have been rejoicing on the fact that they won’t have to switch to AT&T to get the iPhone. It’s very convenient since they can just stay on Verizon and get the iPhone. Not so fast….I’ll explain it to you. Apple and AT&T have had an exclusive iPhone deal that ends in 2010. Does that mean that the iPhone won’t be exclusive. No, I won’t think ahead right away. Apple is likely to stay with AT&T for a major reason: Internet Speeds. Have you and a friend compared your internet speeds: iPhone vs Droid, etc.? I’ve read way to many articles that talk about how AT&T has much faster 3G speeds. Verizon could have a little bit more coverage in more areas…but when it comes down to speed, there is absolutely no comparison! AT&T recently had some ad fights with Verizon…guess who came to help: Apple. That’s right, Apple started making ads to back up At&T on their ad fight. In one of their videos at the end they say the following: “Can your phone do that on your network?”. Impressive effort by Apple and AT&T. A little bit of history–but when Apple was releasing their first iPhone guess which Carrier they went to first, Verizon. When they asked Verizon about taking the iPhone on their network, Verizon send no. They though it wouldn’t be successful and it was a little too much. Then Apple went to AT&T, and they accepted it without any hesitation. So, there you have it, my opinion on why the iPhone 4G won’t run on Verizon’s network. Feel free to comment, and follow me on twitter.

iPad

January 28, 2010 Leave a comment

Today Apple released a new revolutionary product at their keynote. This is “their latest creation” it is called the iPad. Basically my way of thinking about it is, it’s a huge iPhone. This comes in two models: a Wi-Fi Only Model and a Wi-Fi & 3G Model. Wi-Fi only 16GB: $499, 32GB: $599 64GB: $699. 3G & Wi-Fi 16GB: $629, 32GB: $729, 64GB: $829. The iPad is an interesting little device. It’s actually a great size. The iPad would be ideal to take on vacations because it is very portable and easy to use. Since I have an iPhone I wouldn’t really want one. If I were to get one I would get a Wi-Fi only model since my iPhone has 3G already. The iPad seems like a great device and there are some great features: Stunning HD playback for movies/tv shows, apps made specifically for the iPad, and a few other things. This device isn’t a killer device that is just amazing. It’s just a copy of the iPhone and I was expecting to see some more work put into it and I was also expecting that it would be a mixture of Snow Leopard and the iPhone OS. Unfortunately it’s not. The iPad begins shipping in late March. My suggestion is wait for the new iPhone to come out since it will come out probably 3 months after the iPad. If you really need and want an iPad definitely go get it, especially if you don’t have a mac. Otherwise I’m going to definitely save my money for the new iPhone (if and when it does come out). I’m really expecting the iPhone 4G (I guess that’s what it’s called) to be spectacular. Hopefully I’m right, lol. The keyboard on the iPad is as big as any laptop keyboard which is good and makes typing easy. Anyways, I hope you thought my post was helpful. I’ll talk to everyone later. Peace.

Eliminate Pro

Eliminate Pro an awesome First Person Shooter game that has come to the iPhone. It is like Halo for the iPhone. It is made my ngmoco and is currently very sucessful in the App Store. It is available for the price of free with in-app purchases. You play games until your energy runs out to earn credits. Then you use those credits to upgrade/buy new gear. You keep advancing in levels also. There are many different maps that you play in. You can play online with the world which requires an internet connection, or you can start a private match with somebody, or your last option is offline playing with the bots. No energy is used in the last mode. Once your energy runs out you simply can wait the time it says to wait and play again, or buy power cells, or use power cells to recharge and get full energy. It is very fun game and I hope that you enjoy it. Please add me, my Plus+ username is: ferrariman95

Flip4Mac

Flip4Mac is an awesome program. Simply because it lets you play Windows Media Player files that people send you in emails. It just plays them through quicktime. You just download it to have the capability to do that. There is nothing you open when you download it. It is just integrated into the system then. It is very useful because you never know when it will come in handy.

That is just a picture of where you find it in your computer.

To download this handy app go here: http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm

By the way, this is completely free, if you want extra features then you have to pay for them.

Ping! App Review

October 15, 2009 Leave a comment

Ping! Is a great iPhone app. It is an iPhone to iPhone messenger. You can also message iPod Touches. This app was free for a while, but now it costs $0.99 in the AppStore. It is really creative app and is very easy to use. It is great for messaging anyone with an iPhone/iPod Touch. You do have to create a Ping id which barely takes any time. You don’t ever have to sign in/out.

I wonder when they will add a contact list though. It will be helpful since everyone you message automaticallly goes onto your recent messages.

Anyways go check it out!
